Reign Top Wranglers, 3-1

Jase Weslosky Saves 35 of 36 Shots in Ontario Debut

ONTARIO, Calif.
– The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, defeated the Las Vegas Wranglers, 3-1, before a sellout crowd of 9,592 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Saturday evening. Goaltender Jase Weslosky made his first appearance in a Reign uniform, making 35 saves on 36 shots.

Both clubs were held scoreless until 17:32 in the second period, when Wranglers left wing Blair Riley picked up a rebound right in front of the crease and swept the puck past Jase Weslosky.  Center Tyler Mosienko and defenseman Craig Switzer picked up the assists on the first goal of the game.

Wranglers netminder Billy Sauer held off all Reign scoring attempts until 7:21 in the third period.  Sauer saved the initial shot on goal, but forward Jordan Morrison picked up the rebound in the crease and tipped it over the goal line to the game at one.  Right wing Chaz Johnson and defenseman Pat Bowen picked up the assists on the equalizer.

Forward Kyle Kraemer scored the second unanswered Ontario goal at 11:33 when he fired off a wrist shot from the center of the right face-off circle that went top-shelf over Sauer, giving the Reign a 2-1 lead.  Center Michael Pelech picked up the assist.

Las Vegas pulled Sauer for the extra attacker with less than a minute remaining in the third period, but Chaz Johnson capitalized on the empty net and gave his club a two-goal lead.

The Wranglers were unable to battle back for the remainder of regulation, and the Reign won the game with a final score of Ontario 3, Las Vegas 1.
