“Fire On Ice” Night Raises Thousands For Charities
Ontario and New York Fire Departments Face-Off For CCHS and Muscular Dystrophy

ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings and AHL Manchester Monarchs, announced today that the “Fire On Ice” night held on Saturday, January 17 raised over nine thousand dollars for two different charitable organizations.

The Reign hosted a charity match-up between the Ontario and New York Fire Departments, prior to their game later that night.  The two teams faced-off in front of a crowd of about 1,500 to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Fund and the Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome Family Network.  The New York Fire Department claimed the win, 5-2.

Fire On Ice.jpg"It was an amazing fundraiser for the two charities, and a great experience for the Ontario and New York Fire Departments.  It was a real treat to play in a brand new, gorgeous arena in front of over 1,500 people," said Ontario Fire Department team captain Rich Grimm.  "The Reign did a fantastic job promoting the evening and accommodating both fire departments.  I can't wait to do it again next year."

Fans with tickets for the night’s Reign vs. Grizzlies game were able to use the same ticket to gain admission to the charity match-up earlier in the afternoon.  For every ticket purchased, the Ontario Reign donated $4 to the charities.  The Reign also auctioned off a signed New York Fire Department jersey, sold game programs, and held a 50-50 raffle, with all proceeds going towards the charities, and bringing the grand total raised to $9,466.40.

“The support we received from the community, the charities, and throughout the fire department was remarkable,” said Brett Brewster, an Ontario Reign account executive who worked with the fire departments and charities to plan the event.  “We were able to raise money for two very deserving causes and also bring the community out to one heck of a hockey game.  We can’t wait to start the planning for next year, as we plan to make this an annual event.”

The Reign vs. Grizzlies game later the same evening saw its second largest crowd in club history, when 8,532 packed Citizens Business Bank Arena to watch the Reign defeat the Grizzlies in the shootout, 7-6.
