The Ontario Reign bring hockey to you!

The Ontario Reign Ice Crew is an integral part of the Reign's in-game experience and community events. Our team consists of promotional and on-ice ambassadors of the Reign organization. They elevate fan engagement on and off the ice with their energy and passion for the game of hockey!

Would you like to join the Ontario Reign Ice Crew

18 years or older by June 22, 2024.

The Ice Crew consists of the Hockey Development Team and the Promotional Team. Both teams are co-ed. If you are a Hockey Development Team member, you will primarily be coaching hockey in the community at schools, rinks, parks, and charity events. On gamedays, you will be responsible for ice maintenance (scraping), assisting with on-ice intermissions, and win flags.

If you are a Promotional Team member, you will be a brand ambassador and crowd leader for gamedays assisting with on and off ice contests, promotions, and t-shirt tosses. The promotional team is responsible for all fan engagement. At community events, you will represent the LA Kings organization through mobile marketing and non-profit/charity events.

Saturday, June 22nd

11:00 AM– Check-in Opens for On-Ice Skaters

12:00 PM –Introductions and Brief 

12:30 PM - 2:00 PM- On-Ice Skating Tryout Begins

1:00 PM - Check-in Opens for Off-Ice Promotional Team (Non-skaters)

2:30 PM – 4:30 PM - 1st Round for ALL Promotional Participants 

4:30 PM - 5:00 PM- Break

5:00 PM - 7:00 PM –  2nd Round for ALL Promotional Participants

Hockey Development Team - You will participate in an on-ice workshop including Ice scraping, flags, power skating drills, and simulated hockey camp scenarios. You will then have time to change into business casual attire and participate in group interviews on the same day.

Promotional Team - If you are participating in the skating evaluation, you will check-in and skate with the Hockey Development Team participants. After the skating evaluation in completed, ALL Promotional Team participants will join for the off-ice tryouts which will consist of two rounds. The first round will simulate in-arena activities that will highlight their abilities to lead a crowd. The second round will take participants through improv exercises. All Promotional Team finalists need to be available on Monday, June 24th for small group interviews. Specific timeslots will be given at the end of the open call on June 22nd.

If you are trying out for the Promotional Team - NO

Promotional Team members are not required to skate but may be included in Hockey Development responsibilities at home games and events if they are cleared during the skating evaluation portion of the tryout.

If you are trying out for the Hockey Development Team - YES

Hockey Development Team members are advanced level skaters and will participate in ice maintenance (scraping) during home games, camps, clinics, and learn to skate programs.

We encourage individuals to have dual roles!

We encourage everyone to pre-register online prior to tryouts. If you are walking up, you will need to register, sign a waiver, and submit a headshot prior to participating. Please plan accordingly and make sure you have enough time to check-in.

Athletic attire or track suit with comfortable athletic shoes. Please bring a warm jacket. If you are trying out primarily for Hockey Development please bring your own skates, helmets, sticks, and gloves. If you are trying out primarily for the Promotional Team and plan to participate in the skating evaluation, please bring your own skates. Please note that we prefer that you wear hockey skates for the skating evaluation. Hockey skates are required to wear in-arena.

Everyone should come groomed as if you are attending a nice professional event. Please style your hair down if possible. Ladies, please come with clean, fresh make-up that compliments your individual look. Gentlemen, please come clean-shaven and/or groomed facial hair.

No. Our tryouts are closed to the public.

No. It is a part-time job. Being a member of the Ice Crew will require a flexible schedule as well as a commitment to being available for 80% of all home games and 75% of all appearances. You will not work all games and appearances that you are available for. The more you are available, the more likely you are to be scheduled. We will also have a monthly training workshop.
