About Josh
Josh Schaefer returned to the Reign in a full-time capacity as the team’s primary play-by-play voice on AHLTV and the Reign Broadcast Network prior to the 2021-22 season, after calling select games during the shortened 2020-21 season.
The West Hills, CA native made his NHL broadcasting debut on October 9, 2021 on the LA Kings iHeart Audio Network as the Kings hosted the Anaheim Ducks. He filled in for Hall of Fame LA Kings’ announcer Nick Nickson on eight occasions during the 2021-22 NHL season and served as the Kings broadcaster at the Rookie Faceoff in 2021 and 2022.
Schaefer is a 2020 graduate of Arizona State University, where he called Sun Devil baseball, softball and hockey on the Pac-12 Networks and served as the Broadcasting Director at KASC Blaze Radio. He is a two-time IBS Radio award winner for hockey play-by-play and was listed as an STAA All-American Top-20 honoree in 2018 and 2019.
