Colton Young Signs with Ontario for 2024-25
The Ontario Reign, proud AHL affiliate of the LA Kings, have announced the signing of forward Colton Young to an AHL contract for the 2024-25 season.
Young, 25, will begin his second professional campaign with Ontario after spending his rookie year playing for both the Reign and their ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. The Calgary, Alberta native appeared in 19 games with Ontario, scoring two goals and two assists after signing a PTO with the club on Jan. 26.
In 39 games with Greenville, Young totaled 16 points on six goals and 10 assists. He was released from his tryout with the Reign prior to the Swamp Rabbits' regular season finale and went on to lead the club in scoring during the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs with seven points in six games on three goals and four assists.
Young began his pro career with Greenville at the end of the 2022-23 campaign, scoring four points in his first four contests (1-3=4). Prior to that, he played collegiately for four seasons at Colgate University in the NCAA, earning 34 goals, 48 assists, and 82 points in 134 games. Young helped lead the Raiders to the 2023 ECAC Championship in his senior season.
Young also appeared in 176 games for the Canmore Eagles (AJHL) over four seasons from 2016-19 and served as a captain of the club.
