The American Hockey League announced the rosters for the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic Wednesday, which included Ontario Reign captain TJ Tynan who has been selected to represent the Pacific Division in the event to be held February 5-6 in Laval, Que.

Tynan, 30, is Ontario’s scoring leader with 31 points on four goals and 27 assists and has appeared in all 30 of the team’s games so far this season. His assist total is fourth-highest in the AHL and he’s produced 16 points on the power play (2 goals, 14 assists).

It will be the fourth AHL All-Star appearance for Tynan, who also took part in the event when it was last held in Ontario in 2020, as well as in 2018 and 2016.

The Orland Park, Ill. native is in his second season in the LA Kings organization and first while serving as team captain after signing a two-year extension with the team in June following a historic 2021-22 season when he became just the fifth player in AHL history to win back-to-back Most Valuable Player awards and the first since 1985-86.

In 62 games during his first season with the Reign, Tynan registered 98 points (14-84=98) and posted an average of 1.58 points per game, which is the highest of any skater over a full AHL season in the last 15 seasons. His 84 assists also tied for third-most in a single AHL season.

Since making his professional debut in 2013-14, Tynan has totaled amassing 477 AHL points (89-388=477) in 528 AHL games with the Reign, Colorado Eagles, Chicago Wolves, Cleveland/Lake Erie Monsters, and Springfield Falcons. He has led the AHL in assists twice and won a Calder Cup with the Monsters in 2016, contributing six points (1-5=6) in 17 games during the team’s playoff run.

Originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the third round (66th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Tynan has also totaled 21 career NHL contests with the Kings, Colorado Avalanche and Blue Jackets.

Tynan and the Reign are in Henderson for a matchup with the Silver Knights on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and will then travel to San Diego Friday for a 7 p.m. tilt before returning home to face the Gulls on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. in Ontario.
